A Note On Our Anonymity
When we set out to launch this site and do our fair share to defend the reputation of The Hanso Foundation, it was our full intention to be fully named. Anonymity was neither our first inclination nor our preference.
But then, prior to launch, we spent some time closely examining what the Foundation's critics have been up to of late. And we found ourselves more than a little unnerved.
We spent a few sleepless nights weighing our options. Either we could go forward with our initial plan to publish this site under our own names, or we could err on the side of caution, and on the side of our own safety and protection.
Simply put: We do not know at this stage just how far the Foundation's critics are willing to go. Will they stop at character assassination and the defacement of websites? Or will they come out from behind the wall they shield themselves behind and come after the Foundation and its supporters more directly?
In the end, as stated, we've opted to be careful until and unless we come to learn more about the Foundation's attackers. Regretably, this eliminates one of the avenues we had intended to use in order to cultivate trust in what we had to say in the Foundation's defense: Being up front about just who we are.
Perhaps, in the future, we will feel that it is safe for us to properly identify ourselves. That certainly is something for which we hope, and something which we feel you deserve. Hopefully, you will understand and accept our caution, and keep an open mind.
